globalvoices redesign

Boris (with help from Jer) has just launched the redesign of GlobalVoicesOnline, which:

…aggregates, curates, and amplifies the global conversation online – shining light on places and people other media often ignore [more …]

The site is jam packed with info from blogs all over the world, and this new design is much cleaner & easier to get at than the previous incarnation. One can only assume that simplicity belies some mean-ass wordpress hacking in the background.

by the way, I would recommend they change their tagline:

aggregates, curates, and amplifies the global conversation online

that’s some pretty jargony words.

    totally.

“global conversations,” says enough. but wait – ‘global’ is in the title, so even that’s redundant.

    hmmm…

I don’t see how it’s “jargony”, and you know I have a low tolerance for such things myself…

any suggestions? the tagline went through about 1,000,000 revisions by our editorial team, many of them seasoned journalists/writers. Technically, it does say what we do: we aggregate, curate and amplify. We need to be explicit as the number one question we always got was “uh, but what do you *do*?”

matt: i’m generally a big fan of cutting out redundancy myself but our people are really keen on making the point that it’s a global effort. ‘Cause, you know, it is. Also, the use of the 6-character string “global” in that tagline is of two very distinct things: the name of our project, and a reference to it’s scope.

Thanks for the post, Hugh, and sorry it took me 2 weeks to come by and see it. ;)
