and... what about wikipedia? why not a "canadian wikipedia" to highlight canadian encyclopedia entries. why not?
a) because there is no need
b) because it makes no sense
c) because there is no advertising on wikipedia

all that's required is proper classification/tagging/sorting ... so that you *can* search for just cancon if you want it... but you are not forced to because someone thinks you want it.

bah... I want the web, i don't want the web scrubbed for canadian eyes. re: google, if i want lknks to canadian/geospecific sites, i put in the word "canada."

i don't like any of it. not one bit. besides, the only thing i use youtube for is finding old rock videos - many of them cancon by the way. am i going to be stuck choosing exclusively from platinum blond, chilliwack, and gowan for my friday mixed tapes???? god almighty.

this might just be a scaling issue. youtube is massive and they're looking to serve different regions. google went region specific years ago and i think it served its purpose. use google in ireland (.ie) or france (.fr) and you get more relevant information.

generally - at least while i'm in canada - youtube might actually hold more worth to me if it showed me more cancon. if this trend creeps into smaller sites or startups then i think alarm bells would go off for me.
